Friction free fast acting braces London
Orthodontics is the correction of crowded and crooked teeth to produce a natural, regular arrangement and a beautiful smile. In common with our state of the art approach to other branches of dentistry our approach to orthodontics is far from the traditional one. We employ a largely non-extraction technique of gently expanding the jaws to accommodate the correct number of teeth. This is called Orthopaedic Orthodontics. We achieve an appearance enhancing, natural looking result faster than traditional extraction orthodontics in both adults and children. Ultilising the latest technology in orthodontics we can use special friction free braces that reduce treatment times by up to one year!

We produce excellent, stable and beautiful results using a revolutionary but well proved method of treatment, giving you a wide attractive smile.
At our Practice we treat the patient using a completely different philosophy. Instead of trying to make the teeth fit the deformed mouth, we correct the deformity, thus providing room for the teeth. This end result of orthopaedic orthodontic treatment is a mouth and face that has a totally natural shape and size, with even, beautiful looking teeth. |

Our patients are reluctant to lose healthy, functional, permanent teeth and readily understand the clear simple logic of gentle expansion and development of the jaws in harmony with each other to a natural well developed shape. In this way the need for extractions is almost totally eliminated.
With conventional extraction orthodontics you can certainly produce straight teeth, but at what cost? As mentioned before, extraction orthodontics apart from resulting in an inferior facial appearance, commonly causes residual problems of painful clicking jaw joints and chronic headaches. There is much evidence that by using our approach of non-extraction orthopaedic orthodontics the results are far more predictable and far less likely to relapse after completion of treatment.
You will more often than not notice, that in many cases, the mouth appears to be quite narrow One jaw may not match the other due to inharmonious development. If you try to solve the problem by removing healthy, permanent teeth, you are frequently exacerbating the situation and producing a lifetime of problems including painful jaw joints, headaches and even facial disfigurement. We frequently see patients treated by traditional extraction orthodontics who have subsequently developed other serious oral problems. And although the problem of crooked teeth may have been addressed, what began as an unattractively and unnaturally narrow jaw remains just that, albeit with straight teeth. No attempt has been made to widen the jaws back to their natural form.
We treat children as early as eight years of age, before most of the permanent teeth have erupted. By diagnosing an orthodontic problem at an early age we can develop the jaws to their full natural shape with orthopaedic appliances and hence provide room for the succeeding permanent teeth. In many of these cases the patient does not need to go on to fixed braces. Early orthopaedic treatment of orthodontic problems is not only desirable but may save prolonged treatment at a much later stage of life. At the same time age is no barrier to orthodontic treatment and we treat fifty and sixty year old patients, boosting their confidence and self image.
The length and consequently the cost of treatment varies considerably. In severe cases we may have to treat patients with internally worn orthopaedic appliances which usually do not show, before proceeding to fixed braces for the final phase of treatment. The fixed brace we now use is called Delta Force. This system is so efficient and friction free in the orthodontic movement it produces that as much as a year can be saved from the usual time taken by conventional orthodontics. The orthodontic brackets themselves are very unobtrusive in design, far less obvious than conventional metal orthodontic brackets. In milder cases it may not be necessary to use orthopaedic appliances as the Delta Force system itself produces some development of the jaws as well as correcting the crowding and alignment dramatically quickly.
We believe that traditional, old fashioned, extraction orthodontics is outmoded and has been surpassed by modern orthopaedic orthodontics. However, in some cases, where the jaws are full developed and the teeth are crowded, we are occasionally obliged to extract teeth and treat the case by the traditional orthodontic method, but the need of these extractions is less than 5% of the patients we treat.
